Local Elections: the HDP won 65 municipalities across Turkey, including three
metropolitan municipalities, namely Van, Mardin and Diyarbakır. While trustees
have been appointed to 45 HDP municipalities so far, six elected co-mayors were
not given their certificates of election because they had been discharged from

August 19, 2019 – Second wave of Appointment of Trustees started with Diyarbakır, Van and Mardin municipalities.
March 2020- The Ministry of Interior has appointed trustees
to Batman Municipality; Diyarbakır's District Municipalities of Ergani, Eğil,
Lice, Silvan; Iğdır's District Municipality of Halfeli; and Siirt's District
Municipality of Gökçebağ.
The HDP's elected co-mayor are now only in
office in 22 of 65 municipalities.
